Its bi-level terminal is V-shaped and has gates spread between Concourse A and B.

ROC is a little over four miles from downtown Rochester, New York. Located in Monroe County, it is 12 miles from Lake Ontario, and is easily accessible from I-390 and I-490. Amtrak service is available from downtown Rochester.

History
Hangar No. 1 was constructed in 1927 and began the development of what is now the Greater Rochester International Airport. Previously named Britton Field, the first flights from Rochester to New York City occurred that same year. In 1928, the name was changed to Rochester Municipal Airport and went through additional expansion and improvements.

The airport saw significant changes and an increase in activity throughout the war years; scheduled flights increased, passenger volume expanded, and civilian pilot training was also advanced. The county of Monroe eventually took control of the airport in 1948 and improvements turned the facility into a thriving passenger airport. It was during the 1980’s that the airport’s name was changed to Greater Rochester International Airport.
